ONYX BRASS

Alan Thomas to join Onyx Brass

alan thomas wideAfter the sad news at the beginning of the week we are happy to now announce the very good news that Alan Thomas will be our new trumpeter. When we started talking about a replacement for Brian, little did we know that the four of us would be in total agreement of who to ask. In fact the speediness of the whole process must go down as a record for the fastest appointment in classical music. It goes without saying that we are extremely pleased that someone of Alan’s immense talent has agreed to join Onyx Brass.

Alan is currently Co-Section Leader with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and will need no introduction to many. Since joining the CBSO in 2004, he has quickly gained a reputation for exciting and effortless performances, be it within the orchestra or at the front as a soloist. He now is looking forward to combining this position with life as a member of Onyx. Audiences will not have to wait long to hear Alan in his new seat as happily he is free to take part in our Bach Unwrapped concert on 3rd May at Kings Place.

We would just like to say how much we are looking forward to working with Alan and to a new chapter for Onyx Brass.

As we are welcoming a new member to the group, we will be updating our website over the next few weeks so please bear with us as we go through this process.
