Onyx to Release New Single

Way back in 2014 we recorded the music that Dave had composed for his sister’s wedding. Originally planned as just a personal momento, the recording was taken in studio conditions so what better than to release it as a single to lighten moods in these dark days of Winter and Covid-19 lockdowns.

In two versions, Wedding March, and Flourish and Wedding March, the latter will be released on most streaming services on November 6th with the former a week later. They draw inspiration from Dave’s compositional heroes and he writes:

“This was written for the wedding day of my sister. Both she and her fiancé had chosen a beautiful church designed by the famous London architect Nicholas Hawksmoor. It needed to be something grand and noisy. At the wedding reception afterwards, a familiar face, who happened to be one half of an iconic 80’s boy band, came up to me and congratulated me on the music. I was pretty impressed when he said that it sounded like a cross between Steve Reich and John Williams. I was certainly thinking of some of my favourite music and how I could achieve a similar impact with my piece. The pop icon nearly nailed it with those two names. But not quite…”
