March 17th sees the opening of JAM 2016 at St. Brides Church, Fleet Street. Onyx has been involved with JAM since its inception and its core mission to promote new music complements the group’s ethos perfectly. This year we will be playing two pieces by Thea Musgrave and Judith Bingham that we have already premiered alongside new works by Huw Morgan, Daniel Saleeb, Mike Stubbs and Jonathan Woolgar. Joining us will be the Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge, Simon Hogan at the organ and Michael Bawtree conducting.
Throughout May and June we will be repeating our education project, Opening Night, involving primary schools from around Romney Marsh. New for this year, the composer, Timothy Jackson, has added extra parts to be played by young brass players from the local area. Then July 7th we will be donning the grease paint and giving a concert of music from the shows at the Engine Shed in New Romney, part of the world famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.
Also that evening at 6pm, Bach to Baker Street featuring music by J.S. Bach and Patrick Gowers, performed by Trinity Laban Chamber Choir conducted by Stephen Jackson.
